April Meetup Follow Up – Space Coast Preppers.com
Our April Meetup on Monday Night Was a Sucess !
I believe the rest of the group would say the same. We had a nice crowd considering the late notice. Next time I promise to give more notice to the group. I was pleasantly surprised to see many new faces. Unfortunately, several people wrote saying they couldn’t make it due to timing, work, or being under the weather. When we all get together it’s going to be a great crowd. We are getting new followers on Meetup, Facebook and Twitter everyday. Brevard is waking up!
To be the first to know about the next meetup, please JOIN the group on Meetup.com. It’s FREE and you can find it at http://www.meetup.com/Space-Coast-Preppers
The Elks Lodge Took Excellent Care Of Us.
The facility was very nice, clean, organized and smoke free. They had everything ready for us and they were great to deal with. I want to say “Thank You” to Brad Graves and the entire Elks Lodge for welcoming us.
We are looking to host another meetup there shortly. Stay tuned for a survey I will be posting soon in order to try to determine what the best day and time would be for everyone in the group. I might ask what city you are coming from in order to see if we are picking a central location.
Elks Board Member Brad Graves welcomed the group to the Elks Lodge and then gave a short presentation about his recent canning and pressure cooking activities. He showed off several cans he’s recently made. His philosophy is that these are not to be put away for long term storage, but to purchase food when it’s on sale and then use the vacuum sealer to be able to preserve food until it’s needed. He is using this method for this normal rotation of food.
He also mentioned and explained the A.N.T.S. program. This program consists of people around the country who make 5 gallon buckets of preparedness items, or food, water, or other supplies. Then, during an emergency, the members network and determine who is the closest to the disaster area and they meet up and hand off the food to the next person until it gets to the person in need. It’s a neat concept and helps toe make it possible a person on the other side of the country CAN HELP directly, without driving that far himself. You can read more about the program here. americansnetworkingtosurvive.org
After this we opened up the floor for general discussion about a wide range of topics. Several of us showed off books or tools and devices that we have found and have recommended.
We realized we have a great group of talented individuals and it would be a shame to let that go to waste. So we discussed having a night where each of us gives a short presentation on their own area of expertise. We will be working on setting that up soon. If you are interested in giving a brief presentation, please contact us.
I also announced that former Sheriff Jack Parker offered to come to a meetup and speak to the group on several topics. He was very gracious and extremely excited to learn of our new group. He and his wife are preppers to a degree and were happy to learn of the new group. He offered to join us and help how he could.
Well I wanted to wrap this post up by saying Thank You again to Brad, the Elks Lodge, and to all of you that are joining my family on this adventure. I hope this continues to grow and we can really help each other prepare for an uncertain future.
In case you are reading this post on Facebook

We have put together what we hope is a valuable resource for the Brevard Prepper Community. We offer news, tips, videos, a great forum
with excellent moderators and an amazing group of people interacting there. We offer product reviews & recommendations
, guest blogs (we are always looking for more- contact us if interested!),
a resource library
, as well as a calendar of local events
and a business directory
of local business that would be of use to the group. Recently we have added a Classifieds system
, where our members can buy, sell, trade any prepping related items they might want. Check it out- its FREE!
Please, if you have a suggestion for content of the site, EMAIL ME
or fill out the contact form
on the site and make a suggestion. If you have an article you think we should post, send it to us! If you have an open source document that should go in our resource library
– send it to us! And if you ‘d like to guest blog, or write product reviews
or make videos
about prepping, please feel free. Or even if you would like to be on an event committee
, to help organize the Meetups
, and coordinate guest speakers, that would be a tremendous help. I am doing this site in my spare time and I could really use your help.
Well, thanks for coming to the second Meetup, I look forward to getting together with you all at many more in the future. Keep Prepping!
